The first all-Russian Holiday of Poetry “I am a Slavic Singer Klyuev” will take place in Petrozavodsk
On October 22–24, 2008, the first all-Russian Holiday of Poetry “I am a Slavic Singer Klyuev” will take place in the Republic of Karelia with the support from the Fund “Russkii Mir” and Administration of Petrozavodsk Urban Okrug.Organizers of the holiday are ME “Social and Cultural Center” and Karelian Regional Non-governmental Organization “Poetry Theater KREDO”.
The name of Nikolai Klyuev is on the same list with such names of great Russian poets as Alexander Blok, Sergey Esenin, Valerii Brusov, and Sergey Klychkov. “People’s poet”, whose name was known all over Russia turned out to be forced out from his native culture and literature in late 1920 s and for half a century. The idea of grandeur of the spirit of Russian people — which was the core of the works by N. Klyuev — gets special significance today. His poetry is related to nature and every-day life of northern Russian villages. It preserves unique layer of language that is customarily considered to be the language culture of Zaonezhje and North of Russia.
Prominent Russian writers, literary critics and journalists have been invited to the Holiday: S. S. Kunyaev, V. I. Sirotin (USA), Managers of Literary Museums from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, Vytegra, Vologda and Ryazan.
