Exhibition “Tour to the country of two epics”
From October 24 to December 7, at the exhibition hall of museum and strict nature reserve “Kizhi”, there will be an exhibition “Tour to the Country of Two Epics” dated for 160th anniversary of complete version of Kalevala and 150th anniversary of the first record of Russian epics in Zaonezhje.
Children’s interactive exhibition “Tour to the Country of Two Epics” is an educational project for promoting the epic heritage of the region. Karelia is motherland of rich folklore traditions that has retained the best pieces of epic works such as world-famous Russian, Karelian and Finnish epics. The latter got their worldwide recognition after the publication of the poem Kalevala by E. Lennrot. The exhibition will see the works of the winners of republican contests, i. e. pictures, puppets, hand-made books, costumes and outfit of epic characters as well as authentic artifacts from museums. The exhibition will create an image of folk heritage of Karelia via a prism of Children’s artistic perception.
